The fifth edition of The Art of Becoming 
welcomes Elena Salmistraro at the Xacus Brera Store,
located at Via Solferino 8.

 

There are projects that allow us to see fashion as a cultural vehicle, emphasising its cultural and historic value as a sign of a changing and moving society. The Art of Becoming represents a virtuous path that pairs Xacus with one or more names from the contemporary art panorama, able to interpret its values through a convergence of languages. Now in its fifth chapter, this journey, permeated by the allure of experimentation, has seen the different codes - traditional and experimental -  belonging to the figurative arts, enter into contamination territory with codes from the fashion world.

Portraying brand values through creativity and alternative languages such as art, becomes a prerequisite for opening the doors to our spaces and promote the artists of our time, just like the patrons of the past. For this fifth chapter, the spotlight is on Elena Salmistraro, creator of bizarre, dreamlike figures, midway between the real and the imagined, with a nod both to  surrealism and to magical realism. The Best Designer Of The Year 2022 for Salone del Mobile Award and Best Emerging Designer 2017, is placing her language at the service of one of the most important themes in the Xacus manifesto: Teamwork.

 

 

X-Unity celebrates Xacus’s team spirit

Elena Salmistraro’s art is inclusive, with works that tend to portray every aspect of the world, through monsters and anthropomorphic figures in resin-coated polystyrene, entirely decorated by hand. Her unbridled imagination, mixed with patterns and colours, gives rise to surreal characters that blend into the X-Unity work created for Xacus: an authentic example of balances and connections between different individuals who come together, bringing their own personal contribution to a common aim. This is exactly the same as the way Xacus works constantly towards achieving quality and innovation, collection after collection.

X-Unity, which comes to life inside the  Xacus flagship store at Via Solferino 8 in Milan from 2 April and for the whole month dedicated to the Salone del Mobile, pays homage to teamwork and to the importance of the individual that Xacus has always emphasised as part of its complex production cycle, like single parts of a whole, each one with its own tasks. Just like an ideal society.
