HOW AND WHEN WAS YOUR BUSINESS FOUNDED?
Our business dates back to the 1950s when my grandparents started out as market traders, selling clothes at the weekly markets and fairs. The first shop was opened in Pieve di Soligo in 1963 and then in 1973, my father Bruno with his brothers, Aldo and Pietro, opened our historic headquarters in Refrontolo, selling men’s, women’s, and kidswear, together with home furnishings. Our store in Treviso, which is the one we are talking about now, was inaugurated in October 1985. In fact, we celebrated our 30th anniversary there in 2015.
HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE THE STYLE OF YOUR SALES OUTLET?
I like to say that the Refrontolo store is a large boutique. In fact, the store itself encompasses different styles and tastes for all needs, from casual clothing to classic and sportswear...
The Treviso boutique was opened for classic menswear, but it has developed over the years to become a mix of sport, classic, and chic. The brands we sell range from menswear for the man who goes to work in a suit and tie to leisurewear, with sweats, hoodies and a wealth of accessories.
WHICH BRANDS DO YOU PREFER AND WHICH CATEGORIES OF ITEMS ARE YOUR BEST SELLERS?
We can say that I don’t have a favourite brand. I like dressing to suit my mood and in the same way, I like to show customers items based on the feeling I get when I see them enter the store.

WHAT DO YOU BUY FROM XACUS?
With Xacus, our purchases range from classics, which we mainly sell in our Refrontolo store, to washed and patterned fabrics, and denim. Let’s just say we like to keep a wide range to suit all kinds of taste...
HOW IMPORTANT IS THE LEVEL OF SERVICE OFFERED BY THE BRANDS YOU WORK WITH?
The service provided by partner companies is more important now than ever. It is essential when it comes to optimising work and unfortunately, there are few companies like Xacus when it comes to providing excellent service in terms of bespoke items, quick restocking and miscellaneous replacements.
HOW IMPORTANT ARE YOUR EMPLOYEES AND HOW DO YOU TRY TO GIVE THEM AN INCREASINGLY ACTIVE ROLE IN YOUR BUSINESS?
I think that staff is the most important part of sales. If staff knows how to do the job, which is to advise, display, and to know all about the items, then selling becomes the “easy” part. We try to involve all of our employees in the choice of samples and in areas of the business; and most of all, we try and make them feel part of a large family.
