We are at OM, the Made In Italy store that Elisabetta Marangon Giovanetti has chosen to open in Ibiza. Elisabetta is one of those new generation-enterprenours able to successfully run a family business with a new concept meeting the needs of a public that is always on the move and with very different characteristics. Originally from Treviso (North-East Italy), Elisabetta chose a beloved place for her business: Ibiza, introducing in the island, a broader and more sophisticated selection, based above all on quality and elegance, for those customers who live on the island all year round.

What does OM refer to?

I chose this name because of its dual meaning. It stands for my parents’initials, who taught how to do this job at its best and the for the "om" of yoga, which indicates the connection between the first three states of consciousness, leading to peace.

When did you open OM and why did you choose Ibiza?

I opened it in March 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, but I moved to Ibiza 7 years ago so it was impossible to imagine any other place. Following my studies in Fashion Styling at Marangoni - Milan, a working experience at Cucinelli's - New York and a brief yet formative period in Nice where I worked for Marie Claire Mediterranee.

What is the selection like in your store?

I try to put together a very accurate selection in a space of 50-square-meter space where my customers feel comfortable and establish a relationship made of trust, making my customers willing to come back, both regular island tourists and locals. The stylistic direction chosen for men is definitely more classic, since in the other stores of Ibiza, the offer is generally different, more eccentric. So, I decided to focus on men's fashion milestones and the quality of Made In Italy: a style suitable for customers with no age limits, reliable and perfect for the city too, remembering that they got it bought it on the Isla.

For women, on the other hand, the selection is a bit more fashionable, but always among  niche brands, pieces that are hard to find in the stores we are used to visit in the city. An engaging and upscale proposal that stands out for the women who passes by: Circus hotel, Pier Louis Mascià, Maison Lydia, Dami Texan boots entirely handmade, unique pieces, Corto Moltedo clutches. In this context, Xacus shirts are a quality must-have, perfect to be mixed and matched with accessories and brands with high visual impact.

What does Xacus Uomo represent in Ibiza?

For men, Xacus is one of my top brands: a well done shirt, in cuts and fabrics. One of those garments you can't do without once you wear it.  In fact, it often happens that after discovering the quality and fit of a Xacus shirt, customers ask for the entire color range. Moreover, I was glad to discover that the audience is made of youngsters too. A few days ago a young man bought his first white linen shirt and looked at it in the mirror as a precious garment. It is one of those cornerstones of men's fashion destined to last forever.

As much as there are more classical people who usually wear more plain shirts, the island of Ibiza is able to offer a certain level of freedom.  Being on vacation,  customers have a different mindset and are more open to patterned shirts too, such as the "jungle" in its different shades, to match with linen pants or Bermuda shorts with large pockets, setting them free from limits and style codes that need to be followed in other cities and in everyday life.

Xacus Uomo a Ibiza cosa rappresenta invece?
