WHEN AND HOW DID YOU START YOUR BUSINESS?
Susi was born about fifty years ago, in 1964 to be precise. It comes from an intuition of those people who believe in the possibility of opening a physical, real, concrete space, something that, then as now, represents the quintessence of abstraction: the shopping experience.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE TASTE OF YOUR STORE?
We always try to offer our customers an exclusive experience, because it is what makes the difference, in our opinion; we try to do it in a minimal environment that can really enhance the brands styles selected and mixed every season. An idea of aesthetics that is the result of constant research and synthesis of the best known and avant-garde brands.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE BRANDS AND WHICH ARE THE CATEGORIES YOU SELL MORE?
If there is one lesson we have learned over the years is that the market is always changing, it’s never static and in constant evolution. With this background it is difficult to offer a truly comprehensive and clear answer to the first question. As for categories, however, we can say that commercially the store is divided between one avant-garde part, offering brands such as O -White, Maison Margiela, Marcelo Burlon, Palm Angels, Moncler as well as “institutional” brands like Gucci and Fendi; we also have another room offering specialty items such as Xacus, Boglioli, Clipper, Herno, Incotex, Zanone, Church’s and others that could be called “advanced classic”.
WHAT ARE YOU PURCHASING FROM XACUS?
We buy both man and woman collections. For summer 2017 season we selected blouses and chemisier styles. The collection offered some interesting pieces like the relaxed body of Marta and the boy-friend cut of Gemma that we decided to interpret our way, matching them with sophisticated and feminine fabrics like the silks. For men we focused our selection on the classic and timeless slim models that we propose and always sell very well with couture clothes. Moreover, we did not disregard the excellent package of washed shirts, a kind of product that is always in line with the tailor fit and remains a must have piece for the man.
HOW IMPORTANT IS THE LEVEL OF SERVICE OF A BRAND WITH WHOM YOU WORK?
It’s essential. Our business is unpredictable and it’s good to know that we can always count on a company that is there to assist and help us. This is something which makes a huge difference. We learned from experience that the best company is not only the one that offers the best product but is the one that puts you in the best position to sell it. In the specific case of Xacus, the advantage - which is not at all obvious - is that we have a complete warehouse at our disposal and we can be delivered in very short time or even within the next day.
HOW IMPORTANT ARE YOUR EMPLOYEES AND HOW DO YOU INVOLVE THEM?
The employees anywhere in the world are the protagonists of the sales process. They are the ones who really know the customer, his tastes and sometimes even his needs. They are able to combine this knowledge with the know-how of the products they sell in order to make the buying a perfect and successful experience. This is an added value that will never be replaced by any web, algorithm or social network.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR MOTTO?
We do not know whether it is a real motto or not but for us it is a kind of unwritten rule, a philosophy that guides us all along. The one that leads us to think that in front of someone inelegant, we look at the dress, while in front of someone well dressed, we will always look at the person. Our goal is to make sure that we look at people inside their clothes.
XACUS TURNS 60 IN 2016: A SPECIAL GREETING
Sixty years is an absolute milestone. Only a company that has always based its values on seriousness with partners, quality of product and ability to adapt to the times is able to reach this achievement. There is no better hope than wishing them to continue to follow the successful path traced so far.
