After an overview of the key trends for the Fall/Winter 2019 women’s shirt collection, let’s look at the new Xacus menswear for next winter, in view of that unveiled at the latest Pitti show.
We’ll start with the variety of colours that will be the stars of the male wardrobe, obviously in reference to men’s shirts: in addition to timeless black&white there will be the warm hues of burgundy, ochre and burnt colours but there will also be blue and grey melange (the latter not as much as in the F/W season that has just finished).
Shirts with regimental stripes, checks, madras and prints will be once again be the must-haves, making the men’s shirt come to life. The trend is also for garment-dyed shirts, in particular: lightweight Viyella, gabardine, 500 or 2000 line corduroy will be the most popular materials.
But how can fabrics, yarns, prints and colours be mixed and matched to create a trendy outfit that is completely in line with the latest style? Let's find out together with 5 different looks.
The perfect symbol of casual clothing, relaxed and suitable for informal occasions, a layer for the coldest but changeable days. Over a plain jersey T-shirt in American slub cotton we have a shirt in heavy gabardine, in denim with two convenient pleated pockets on the front. To complete the outfit, another checked shirt in heavy gabardine that can be worn as a shirt jacket; this time with front flap pockets for a work shirt look.
If you want to make a casual but at the same time sought after impression you can team a basic black jersey polo-neck with a bold patterned shirt, for example in corduroy with a flower print and semi-spread collar.
Another variant of the men’s shirt created for those who love to be daring, a paisley cord cowboy shirt with snap fasteners. Pockets with flaps, shoulders and a pointed yoke complete the mood of this shirt that, with or without a polo-neck, will certainly be noted for its style.
If you want to play with autumn colours you can team a light-coloured pair of trousers with a poplin print shirt in earth tones, with a semi-spread collar.
Last but not least, you could choose to double up by wearing a man’s shirt in print poplin with a semi-spread collar over another garment-dyed orange gabardine shirt with snap fasteners.
The icing on the cake of the F/W 2019 collection, designed for the businessman always on the go and looking for practical solutions without sacrificing elegance, The Journey Collection, the Xacus staple: a high-tech collection of shirts for men, which even after they have been worn will always be neat and tidy, as if they have just been ironed. But we will talk about this in future articles!
